"As a parent, I always thought ABA was just for therapist, but the BCBA Map showed me how to use its principles in our everyday life. This isn't just a guide, it's a gift to families like ours!"

Jessica A., BCBA

"The BCBA Map helped me realize how behavior patterns are connected to family dynamics. Top-down and Bottom-up Behavior Analysis bridges the gap beautifully!"

Lauren R., BCBA

"Addressing mentalism always felt like guesswork. It's incredible how the BCBA Map aligns intrinsic motivation with character structures and socially significant behavior. I'm more energized and confident in my work!"

The BCBA Map: Exploring The Science Of Perception And Action In The Family

As the technological age continues to expand, it is becoming increasingly difficult to reconcile behavioral science with human objective values. This growing divide presents a unique challenge, especially in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis because the precondition for behavioral well-being is not just how behavior works but what does behavior mean in the context of child development and family. To understand this convergence, we must first consider the two distinct modes of understanding experience:

As a place of objects as “behavior” and as a “field of experience".

The place of objects as behavior is the formal method of science and it measures the property of “selection” in the behavioral equation. This behavioral analytic technique views behavior through a lens of mechanical causality (Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence).

The place as a field of experience is the technique of narrative technology and it measures the property of “variation” in the behavioral equation. This behavioral analytic technique views behavior patterns in the 5-character structures of child development through a lens of Top-down and Bottom-up Behavior Analysis.

The purpose of the BCBA Map is to explore the integrative worldview of Scientific Narrative Technology (SNT) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to address behavioral, developmental, relational and educational challenges in child development and family as a whole. This approach uses valid and reliable evidence-based tools to measure the complete picture of selection and variation in the behavioral equation and demonstrates its practical utility and higher meaning within the Family.

Empirical Analysis

An Analysis of clusters of behavior and characteristics that co-occur in child development and family through top-down and bottom-up behavior analysis!

Predictive Power

Reliably predicts a wide range of outcomes across different domains such as familial, interpersonal relationships and behavioral outcomes!

Independence

The 5-character structures are largely independent of one another. Independence enhances reliability and precision, allowing for greater understanding of individual differences!

Cross-Cultural

One of the key indicators of validity within the 5-character structures is its cross-cultural analysis of behavior patterns as enabling and selecting behaviors!

Conceptually Systematic

A comprehensive assessment of ABA, child development and relational learning of family as a whole. A systematic evaluation of the child-family profile!

Applied

The ultimate toolbox for a comprehensive science of all human behavior, including private events. A scientific storyboard that helps you see the bigger picture- the complete behavioral equation embedded in the family!

Interactive Patterns: Exploration And The Conflict Of Framing

Exploration is at the heart of every child's development, guiding them toward abstract ideas, pretend play and creative experiences. But for many children, this process is often interrupted.

Enabling Behaviors are the expression of the child's embodied sensory experience with the environment. Selecting Behaviors are the child's ability to detect and extract meaningful signals from the environment and form connection with ideation and their embodied respond.

Interactive Patterns: Sensory Information Flow And The Conflict Of Motor Planning And Sequencing

At the core of every behavior, lies the process of sensory information flow. This reciprocal flow of information helps children navigate the environment, make decisions and stay motivated. But when attention or motivation wavers, it can prevent meaningful engagement with task.

Enabling behaviors open up possibilities, allowing the child to move towards the realization of reward. Selecting behaviors reduce potential distractors, helping the child follow rules of task by filtering out unnecessary information.

Interactive Patterns: Social Affiliation (Play) And The Conflict Of Reward

Play isn't just fun- it's a critical process in development. Through play, children learn to explore the social environment and navigate reward by balancing the thrill of pursuing a reward with the satisfaction of achieving it.

Enabling behaviors involve seeking out reward, creating anticipation about the potential for reward. Selecting behaviors reinforce activities that have been reinforcing in the past, cultivating satisfaction.

Interactive Patterns: Social Care And The Conflict Of Social Harmony

Social care is the process for nurturing behavior and attachment styles. Many children and caregivers face challenges in balancing self-care with the expectations of social-care.

Enabling behaviors make pro-social possibilities of connection possible by reflexive feeling of empathy. Selecting behaviors reduce the likelihood of anti-social behavior (voluntary) ensuring that positive social possibilities become more probable.

Interactive Patterns: Elimination Of Stimuli And The Conflict Of Exposure

Navigating uncertain events is a challenge all children face, and their response can range from passive inhibition or active defensive behaviors. Uncertainty optimization is the child's ability to feel secure while managing exposure to new challenging situations.

Enabling behaviors is associated with passive inhibition, where the child reflexively avoids engagement in response to the uncertain event. Selecting behaviors motivate the child to take control of the situation by engaging in active defense with the uncertain event.

Meet Your Instructor

My name is Robby and I've been a Behavioral Consultant for over 10 years. I am the Founder of ABA Parents, a research and interdisciplinary agency that supports children, families and clinicians in an ever-changing technological world. In a post-covid world many children and families have faced tremendous adversity, and it's our responsibility to meet the demands of our current times with new innovative technologies.

The purpose of the BCBA Map is to explain the interpretive framework that bridges the gap between behavioral science and human objective-values to address behavioral, developmental, relational and educational challenges in child development and family as a whole.

What Makes Us Different?

Practice-Based

We believe that research needs to be integrated into practice, and through research-to-practice, our team has created innovative tools and resources. What is the ultimate purpose of our tools?

  • Understand core functioning
  • Increase core function
  • Increase communication of core
  • Engage more fully

Relationship Centered

We don't just study the process of developmental relationship in the family. We identify what is needed to form and strengthen them. The connection between abstract principles and practical tools is how we cement the meaning of family, child development and its transformations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the BCBA Map Supported By Evidence-Based Practices?

Yes! The big-5 aspect model is arguably one of the most well-established and widely used models for predicting human behavior. It is cross-culturally valid, reliable measure across time, and its foundation is empirical.

The BCBA Map has strong evidence supported by ABA, Psychometrics, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Child Developmental Psychology. The general process of The BCBA Map is the universal human structure among all children and families!

What Are The 5 Human Objective-Values?

Objective values are the subsidiary aspects of child development along the 5 functional dimensions of human structure. It is designed specifically to help you understand the structural integrity of enabling and selecting behavior patterns (regulatory and integrative capacities) in the family.

Pre-requisite required?

No pre-requisite is required! The BCBA Map is easy to read and follow. It is designed for clinicians and parents interested in applied behavior analysis and childcare in the family.
